Our commitment towards sustainability and transparency has been written in the company values since day one. We believe that this is the way forward in coffee, but we also understand that the word "sustainability" is often overused. So instead, we choose to speak about impact - how can our actions and purchasing decisions create a positive impact with all parts of our trade chain? For us, it is through what we do best - by creating a unique blend that delivers these values to coffee lovers and further. The "Impact" espresso blend is one which is not limited by a specific taste profile. Instead, it will speak loudly about a specific project or mission that we are supporting in that specific time - alongside with you, who has chosen to purchase this espresso blend.

In Rwanda, we work alongside our partner Rawmaterial. This partnership helps affiliate co-operatives increase their quality of production, fetch a higher price for their coffee, and introduce them to new markets. The story of Shyira is both tragic and inspiring at the same time. In 2020, devastating landslides ripped through  the Shyira and Vunga stations, destroying infrastructure, production and also robbing people of their lives. About 65% of the people living in this region depend on coffee as their main source of income. The urgent appeal for help was answered by almost 1000 people, raising enough money to deliver essential items to entire neighbourhoods that were suddenly without food, shelter, or income. Rebuilding homes, replanting trees, and investing in resilience against future climate events are the key next steps, and much of the global coffee community remains dedicated to the cause. By purchasing this delicious and truly unique coffee, you are supporting our efforts to help Shyira rebuild, as we have decided to do with this edition of "Impact".

Roast info

This coffee is roasted for espresso, meaning that it will present with higher intensity, rich texture and sweetness, lower acidity and more distinct caramelization flavours. Espresso roasts have higher solubility, meaning that you will be able to access the coffee flavours with more ease. Even though it is more suited for espresso machines and mokka pots, you can definitely enjoy it in any other method as well if you're looking for a richer cup. Espresso roasts are at their best starting from 2 weeks from the roast date, so take your time with it.

Use and storage

We recommend you enjoy this coffee within 3 months of the roasting date.
Store in a dry and cool place, between +16 and +25 degrees.

Sustainable Coffee Trading

This coffee's cycle from farm to your cup has been one of honesty and hard work. We source our coffees from producers that use environmentally-friendly growing practices, roast it so that it's consistently good, package it in materials that either recycle or can be refilled and deliver the coffee with emissions in mind. Sustainability is one of our core values, and the path of our coffee demonstrates that.
